Water Usage Correction Charge?

Water services are provided in two ways:

1. 'Rateable Value'

2. Metered

What's rateable value?

Rateable values were set by the Valuation Office between 1973 and 1990. They were set based on a number of factors including the size, plot, area, general condition of the property and local services. Water companies have not revised Rateable Value methods since 1990 though they do change their prices every year depending on their operational costs in delivering water and sewerage services to your area. Glide don't set the water charges and the water companies don't calculate them or re-calculate them anymore.

If you receive rateable value water charges from your local water provider, Glide's introductory quote will best match what we know about water charges in your area generally, though it isn't always possible to perfectly match what we are charged until we receive the bills ourselves. When we do receive these charges, we will notify you as soon as possible and revise your monthly payment plan or closing statement to reflect the exact charges we have received. This may mean you receive a final water usage correction on your closing statement from Glide but this will always be for charges you would have paid to the water provider, had you received the bills from them directly. If we have received more payments from you for your water services, we will refund you the difference so you only end up paying for what you use, in addition to any management charges you have agreed to pay Glide directly.

What's metered?

Similar to gas and electricity services, water flows through a meter that monitors the quantity and calculates the amount. The water provider then bills you for the amount used.

We calculate your closing water statement for metered properties in the same way we do for gas and electricity. The water provider will take a reading of your property after you have vacated and will send the closing statement to us. We will then pass on any charges that we haven't received from you already, depending on the amount we receive from the water provider. If we have received more payments from you for your water services, we will refund you the difference so you only end up paying for what you use, in addition to any management charges you have agreed to pay Glide directly.
